Row over stand-alone special economic zones (SEZs) in the power sector looks set to be resolved soon. Power ministry is standing firmly behind these zones, which could help in addressing the power shortage in the country. To address revenue department's concerns, the ministry has devised a formula. The formula will enable these SEZ units to sell power to domestic tariff area albeit at a higher cost on par with units in DTA. Power ministry has assured revenue department that supply of power and consumption can be monitored and it would be able to keep track of supplies to SEZ units and DTA units.
