SEZs Go Tumbling In Goa
|
Goa is India?s smallest state but it received the largest number of proposals for setting up special economic zones (SEZS). Out of the 15 proposals, seven were approved and work even started on two. This led to a public outcry against SEZs. Chief minister Digambar Kamat appeared unruffled by the snowballing campaign, not even when his coalition partner, Nationalist Congress Party, lent its voice to it. But when the influential Catholic Church spoke out against it, the cm reacted almost immediately.
